Start with a route, not a slogan
The former homepage accumulated a number of valid destinations, but it did not make their relationship obvious at the first glance. This release treats the page as a map of the site: six converter routes give direct access to practical tools, while the research sections make clear that every result belongs to a wider historical and evidential context.
The large, approved pyramid infographic remains the visual anchor. It has not been redrawn or reinterpreted. The work around it was restructured so the page can explain what the site offers without competing with the diagram that already carries its own geometric argument.
Stable references, current signals
The Seked case study and the Stonehenge article remain deliberately static. They are selected invitations to the site's existing work, rather than a claim that those subjects are newly researched each day. Their labels and destinations now sit beside the unit-of-the-day card, giving the opening screen both a worked example and a changing point of entry.
The unit of the day uses the Brisbane calendar date to select one of the 191 published unit dossiers. It always has server-visible fallback content, so the page retains a useful destination if the enhancement cannot load. The result is a modest rotation rather than artificial novelty: each card still leads to a documented page with its own basis and limits.
The build log belongs near the diagram
The latest three Build Log entries now sit below the pyramid infographic. That puts the site's current engineering record beside the interface it describes, rather than leaving it as a detached list further down the page. The cards refresh from the Build Log index when available and retain their current server-visible entries as a fallback.
The separate Browse-all link was removed from this opening composition. The main navigation and the Build Log cards already provide clear, direct routes, while the homepage stays focused on helping a visitor choose a next question.
Preservation is part of redesign
The approved footer and its linked pages were not altered. The pyramid figure was checked structurally against the prior homepage, and the reorganised middle was tested at desktop, 360 px, and 320 px widths. The narrow layout keeps the diagram ahead of the Build Log cards and avoids horizontal page overflow.
Design changes on a research site are not separate from editorial discipline. The useful test is whether a new layout makes the available evidence, tools, and limits easier to find without overstating what any one page can establish. This homepage revision is intended to do exactly that.
